Going green in transport

In addition to the developments in Kovu's product range, which include:

• natural refrigerants R600 and R290, giving a 10% energy saving
• LED lighting - energy savings, lower maintenance costs and minimum heat output
• glass covers over the chiller and freezer units - energy savings

Kovu has also taken a "green" step forwards in its logistics, jointly with its partner HST. HST received the prestigious Lean and Green award in September. The award was given to HSTGroup for the innovative approach to making clear to customers what the environmental impact is of booking transport orders through "HSTOnline", the new Internet portal. The purpose of this is to provide the customer with the necessary information, so that transportation alternatives with a smaller environmental footprint can be chosen if so desired.

HST: Lean and Green Award

The Lean and Green Award lets companies show that they are actively trying to make their logistical processes more sustainable. It is something they can be proud of, after all. The Lean and Green programme aims to provide a stimulus, encouraging companies to move up to a higher level of sustainability, by taking measures that not only save on costs but also reduce the environmental burden.
